Frequently Asked Questions
Dr. Dodig and team are currently welcoming new patients. Call our West University dental office today to reserve your appointment, consultation, or second-opinion visit. Our convenient West University office serves patients from Bellaire and the surrounding areas.
Does Dr. Dodig see children?
Of course! We love seeing children and creating positive hygiene habits from a young age. Our family dentistry services are perfect for children, teenagers, and adults. We may recommend dental sealants, clear plastic coatings that prevent cavities, especially for children who have difficulty brushing. We typically begin seeing children around the age of four. In some cases, we will recommend children with complex needs to a pediatric dentist for care.
Will I need to see a specialist for treatment?
At our practice, we often provide the entirety of your dental treatment in our West University Place office. Dr. Dodig works with a periodontist, who comes to our office, so she can provide an advanced level of care. Dental implant placement and periodontal surgeries can be performed at our West University practice under Dr. Dodig’s supervision. Although Dr. Dodig performs many oral surgeries, including root canals and extractions, if she feels you would be better served by an endodontist or oral surgeon, she may refer you to a trusted colleague.
How can I conservatively improve my smile?
Glad you asked – this is one of Dr. Dodig’s favorite things to do! So many patients are astounded at how easy and conservative modern cosmetic dentistry can be. Depending on your unique needs, Dr. Dodig may recommend composite veneers, which are like porcelain veneers, but they can be created in a single visit and don’t require any tooth reduction. We also offer in-office whitening (without the harsh lamps or lasers), and tooth-colored fillings and crowns. Schedule a cosmetic consultation to learn which options are right for you!
Can you replace my metal dental crowns and fillings?
Yes. Many patients dislike the look of dark metal in their mouths. Dr. Dodig offers natural-looking alternatives. We place tooth-colored fillings and create lifelike, ceramic crowns.
How do you help patients with anxiety relax?
If a visit to the dentist makes your nerves rattle, then sedation dentistry may be for you. Prior to your visit, you take a mild sedative that will melt away stress and leave you with feelings of euphoria. The sedative has an amnesic effect meaning you’ll remember little from the actual procedure, although you’ll be conscious throughout your appointment. In addition to oral sedation, we offer nitrous oxide and IV sedation. Dr. Dodig will consult with you, explaining your options in full detail, to determine the best method for your level of anxiety.
Do you accept my dental insurance?
We accept most dental insurances and will file your claim for reimbursement. As a fee-for-service practice, we require that patients pay for their treatment in full on the day it’s received unless prior arrangements have been made.
