Dental Crowns & Bridges
Dental crowns are one of the most commonly utilized restorations. Whether patients experience severe decay or damage, dental crowns allow Dr. Neda Dodig to preserve patients’ natural dental structure while restoring form and function to their smiles. Dental crowns are also used as a tooth replacement solution as part of fixed bridges and dental implant supported crowns and bridges. Regardless of the reason patients need a dental crown, the procedure is the same. Patients should plan for at least two visits to complete their treatment. During the initial visit, we prepare patients’ teeth removing damaged or decayed tissue. We then take impressions of teeth that are used to create a custom dental crown. While the restoration is crafted, patients receive a temporary crown to protect their prepared tooth. At the second visit, patients exchange the temporary for the permanent dental crown. A fixed bridge is placed in much the same way except rather than simply restoring a single damaged tooth, a fixed bridge uses dental crowns to support one to three consecutive replacement teeth.
Wisdom Teeth Extractions
Dr. Dodig and her team are dedicated to helping patients keep their natural teeth for life, but in some cases, tooth extraction is the best solution for overall oral health. The most commonly removed teeth are third molars, more frequently referred to as wisdom teeth. Because these teeth are the last to erupt in patients’ smiles, there is not always enough space to accommodate this last set of teeth leading to impaction (inability of teeth to erupt) and crowding that may undo orthodontic treatment or create alignment issues. Around the age of eleven, Dr. Dodig will examine your child’s developing smile in order to determine whether wisdom tooth extraction is likely. If it is determined that removal is necessary, we are able to complete wisdom tooth extractions from the comfort of our Houston practice. For those patients who need surgical removal, our trusted periodontal expert, Dr. Khaldoun Katma is happy to complete these treatments.
Dentures & Partial Dentures
Possibly the most time tested dental restoration, partial and full dentures offer predictable results for patients missing multiple teeth or a full arch. Partial dentures fit into teeth like a puzzle piece. Made of a number of teeth set into a gum-colored base, partials clip into place supported by remaining healthy teeth. Full dentures include a set of replacement teeth set into a malleable gum colored base. These dentures are precisely crafted to remain in place using suction and sometimes small amounts of denture adhesive.
